Art and Tech Talk

Daan Roosegaarde
"Daan Roosegaarde is a young artist working in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts AKI in Enschede and the Berlage Institute, a Postgraduate Laboratory of Architecture in Rotterdam.

Roosegaarde's work explores the dynamic relation between architecture, people and new media. His sculptures are a collision of technology and the human body. In this interaction the sculptures create a situation where visitor and (public) space become one."

ps. I also like James Clar&associate's work. There are so many interesting works that I would like to introduce to my classmates.

IR Range sensor

"The Sharp IR Range Finder works by the process of triangulation. A pulse of light (wavelength range of 850nm +/-70nm) is emitted and then reflected back (or not reflected at all). When the light returns it comes back at an angle that is dependent on the distance of the reflecting object. Triangulation works by detecting this reflected beam angle - by knowing the angle, distance can then be determined. "
